Finished a short story yesterday.

Feeling pretty good about it.

The dame walked into my office, and I could see immediately that she had "trouble" written all over her.
"I need your help", she said, "I've got 'trouble' written all over me, and it's in permanent marker. I've got a job interview in, like, an hour."

"Have a seat, toots." I said, pouring a glass of bourbon.
The dame had legs that went all the way up to her pelvis, which she put on my chair. I dabbed a paper towel in the bourbon and got to work.

"Oh, however can I repay you?"
"Well, I charge fifty bucks an hour, plus expenses. This was maybe twenty minutes, and that much bourbon is about five bucks, so... twenty-one sixty-seven."
"You take Visa?"
"Yeah, lemme get the thing that clips into the phone..."

RESOLVED:

I will Accomplish Something in the house, and something for the podcast and/or writing, before starting up the PS5, today and every day this week.

Just added a filter on the hashtag. Anyone who knows me knows how I feel about the poor ethics relating to AI images, so snarking at every post that comes along won't do any good.

Please tag your images appropriately.

"Hello," she said in a voice so husky it could pull a sled.

Pro-tip: Sales drive reviews.
Reviews do not drive sales.

If you want more reviews,
sell more books.

If you want more sales,
write more books.

Nothing sells your last book as well as your next one.

Having run my own test mastodon server, I can tell you that boosting is REALLY important. That's how posts propagate between servers that are not federated together.

I may get a bit technical, and it can be hard to describe but it's something like this:

Let's say that you have 2 servers, A and B that are not connected. They have their own federated timelines that is vastly different.

let's assume they have their users @a@A and @b@B that are mutuals. If user @a@A sees something interesting on theirs federated timeline and boosts it, user @b@B will see that on their own home page. But more importantly server B will now know about and download that post, and everyone else on B server will be able to see that post on their own federated timeline!

And that's why you boost, guys! It helps posts to spread.

The hardest problem in computer science is to make a social network without nazis

Suggestion that if you've recently joined the #twittermigration, please consider keeping your #Twitter account active for a while and put your full mastodon handle in your #Twitter profile so that apps like debirdify (debirdify.pruvisto.org/) can help your followers back there to find you over here.

Are you tagged in a thread that you don't want to take part in any more?

You can mute just the conversation itself, no one will know you've done this.

Log in through website or a third party app, go to one of your posts in the thread, click on ⋯ and "Mute conversation".

If you haven't posted in the thread, go to a post where you were tagged, then ⋯ and "Mute conversation".

If you change your mind, do same thing but select "Unmute conversation".

The official app doesn't have this yet.

I am very happy seeing the folks who just followed me after my server migration. I'm going to pretend they weren't automatic and decide they were all on-purpose decisions you all made just now.
